Job Description:
The NBRHC Department of General & Family Practice has opportunities for physicians to join existing care teams to practice comprehensive family medicine, that includes hospital inpatient care.

The NBRHC Department of General & Family Practice is an efficient and collegial department that is actively engaged in our community and plays an important role with hospital care. Members provide hospital inpatient care to their rostered patients and share in the care of admitted orphan patients. Our physicians belong to Family Health Organizations and Family Health Groups, working together to reduce the frequency of inpatient on-call work.

Applicants are required to be certified, or eligible for certification, by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), and be licensed or eligible for licensure through the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) The organization is an affiliated academic teaching centre with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). The preferred candidate would be expected to participate in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners.

NBRHC is a state-of-the-art regional health centre that has a catchment area of 180,000 with strong inpatient and out-patient specialist support. Circa 2011, this newly built 433 bed health facility has three primary roles: providing acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, functioning as the district referral center providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it’s the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario. Remuneration:
Our Family Health Organizations are remunerated with capitation payments along with fee-for-service. NBRHC family physicians also receive HOCC for on-call participation, stipends for orphaned in-patient care and surgical assisting. NBRHC & the City of North Bay offer a competitive incentive package of up to $50,000 to assist with practice start up and transition to the community assistance with moving expenses and up to $83,000 through the Northern Rural Recruitment & Retention Initiative (NRRRI).
