We are a collegial group of CCFP, CCFP-EM and FRCP trained physicians with a wide variety of professional and personal interests. We area regional stroke referral center, a level III trauma center and have a large catchment area of smaller surrounding communities. Our ED is supported by Health Science North, our nearest Teritary Care Center, just over an hour away.

Our workload is broken into 8 shifts per day, typically with double or triple physician coverage. Our team is well supported by specialists including ortho, surgery, ENT, urology, pediatrics, anesthesia, obstetrics and internal medicine and its subspecialties.

We have onsite CT and MRI imaging modalities. As a group we regularly participate in CME with an excellent SIM program and high fidelity SIM lab, monthly accredited Grand Rounds and case reviews. Our work is supported by an excellent group of nurses, RT’s, geriatric EM nurses, sexual assault program and crisis workers. The organization is affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) which provides various opportunities for teaching and mentorship.

ED physicians are remunerated through a Alternate Funding Plan (AFA) with a rewarding financial structure. Mentorship opportunities for new hires exist both formally through the MOHLTC and informally within our group.
